Been feeling smug the last few weeks; working on a roof in Staplehurst secure under a tin cover, we were able to carry on despite the weather. After a century of defending residents from everything our English weather can throw at it, this roof was leaking and its tiles had started to delaminate. Having stripped off the old to re-felt and batten, we were able to do a few rot repairs and address a major the leak from around the chimney. With new lead flashing, felt and insulation, as well as all tiles carefully relaid, or replaced where necessary, this roof will now serve for many more years. There's nothing more satisfying than being able to restore an old building.
